Okay, I admit it, I'm guilty of doing this in my writing. I repeat without even realizing it, then when I go in to edit the work, I end up missing them. 'Tis one aspect of my writing that I have work at improving.
Take my contemporary. Jennifer Greene, editor for one of Harlequin's line, commented on the repetitions in my submission. Worked through them and added some more to the story. Well, guess what I did with the new stuff. Repeated again and again. Maybe it's that one book, maybe it's not. What's really bad is that I never noticed until one of my critique partners pointed it out to me. Sooo, it's back to red penning the manuscript for another check for the dratted repeats.
